Meet the MyPad team

Posted Now: April 25, 2023

We had a visit from a professional photographer, James Armstrong in March. His brief was to capture our work, people and sites on camera and give us plenty of illustration options for the website.

While James was at The Quadrant, everyone who was in the office that day gathered for a team photograph and the result is included here (as well as on the Our team page of the website).

What looks like a kitchen (and IS a kitchen most of the time) is also our entertaining and networking area – so it made sense to get the twelve of us together around the big marble island. We’re not going to name names but this shot includes someone who is involved at MyPad at each stage, from land to living.

The Technical department is where it all starts:

Planning – these are the people who suss out the potential for new community housing sites and then work with our partners and local authorities to ensure that all the permissions are in place to go ahead.

Design – we work with architects and partners to ensure that our houses and apartments are ideal to become the homes of the future.

Engineers – our work isn’t just about bricks and mortar, it can also be about surveying, steel structures and problem solving. That’s where the MyPad engineers get involved.

Buying – big construction projects rely on having everything the builders need, in the right quantities, in the right place and when they need it. That’s where the procurement/buying team come in – they’re fiendish negotiators on price too so that our homes come in on budget at great value.

Then there’s Operations, which covers the construction side of things, once planning, design and engineering have done their stuff.

The people from Operations included on this team photograph are just the tip of the iceberg as a lot of our practical building and construction work is sub-contracted to specialists. In all, we work with more than 30 different sub-contractors for everything from plumbing and electrics to roofing and windows.

Many of them have been working with MyPad for several years so it’s a bit of a shame that we couldn’t include them on the photograph as they’re very much part of our team too.

Finally, there’s the Commercial department, which includes accounts and payroll as well as sales and marketing and other commercial functions. Once our properties are sold – whether to community housing partners or to private buyers – they’re all set for living, the last link in the MyPad land to living chain.
